Overview
We partnered with Nixit, a menstrual cup brand recognized for its innovative product design, to enhance its digital presence. In my role as Senior UX Designer, I collaborated directly with the founder to improve the overall digital user experience and strategically streamline content management on the Shopify platform. The goal was to deliver a superior online experience while empowering the Nixit team with easy-to-use, efficient content tools.

Empowering the Nixit brand with a scalable system
The founder of Nixit approached us with an outdated Shopify website that was hard-coded and lacked flexibility. They wanted to modernize the experience and establish a design system that could be easily edited without needing a developer's assistance. Additionally, they sought guidance on their visual direction. I created extendable components and collaborated with the founder to develop a new design system.
Auditing and strategizing for a smoother user experience
We began by conducting competitive research to understand the market and documented our findings. We audited their existing experience and identified opportunities for enhancement. Through several Core Model workshops with the client, we gathered insights into their needs for each page and strategized how to structure site navigation for clarity and ease of use. We prioritized user tasks to ensure we could effectively guide users through their journey, providing the information they needed to feel supported as they proceeded to checkout.
Concepts to Hi-fidelity designs
We developed a series of concepts during this engagement, collaborating closely with the client to establish the new design system. The brand had several accessibility concerns, particularly with images overlapping text. I worked with the client to identify ways to optimize the experience for responsiveness and created multiple templates for her to test before launching, ensuring they met accessibility standards.
Summary
The engagement was highly successful; through numerous collaborative sessions, we arrived at the final designs, and the client was thrilled with the results. As we began implementing the designs, I partnered closely with a senior developer to align the final experience with our vision. The developer documented the Shopify template, enabling the client to easily access the Shopify portal and customize content according to their needs.
